History of Château d'Azay-le-Rideau - CHATEAU D'AZAY-LE-RIDEAU
Built on the foundations of a medieval fortress in the heart of
Touraine, the Château d'Azay-le-Rideau is the creation of a wealthy
financier of François I, Gilles de Berthelot. Standing in the centre
of a romantic park, this masterpiece of 16th-century architecture
has preserved, with the passing years, all the refinement, elegance
and grace of an exceptional Renaissance château. On the Unesco World
Heritage list.
Hours Open - every day - times may vary:
October to March : 10 am to 5:15 pm | April to June and in September
: 9:30 am to 6 pm
July and August : 9:30 am to 7 pm | Last admissions 1h before
closing.
Closed: January 1, May 1 and December 25
