              Travel Tips
Hotel safety and security is practically
non-existent, so you need to take
charge of the situation when you
travel. Check out a hotels security by
contacting them by phone, fax or
email and ask these questions: do
they have electronic door locks; is
there secure room key control; is
there a fire alarm and sprinkler
system.  These items are not to be
taken for granted.  Hotels in Europe
and around the globe are old and the
updating of these buildings that are
a few hundred years old is tricky
 at best.

If you are going to rent a car, you
want to make sure that the hotel has
 underground or other parking
available, and find out where the
 parking is located.
Most parking
garages in Europe like the buildings
that they are housed under, are old,
dark and a perfect place to be
 relieved of your possessions. Tourists
are targets for criminals at anytime,
any and everywhere. They know that
 you are unfamiliar with your
 surroundings, and thus can become
 an easy target for them.

   Travel Tips continued...
Women in particular are vulnerable, because of size alone, and if
you are alone.  The most important thing that a woman can do to
protect herself from a would-be thief is to be on guard at all times
[day and night].  Thief's are aware of your awareness of your
surroundings.  Even if your in a unfamiliar environment, the first
thing you learn in basic self-defense -- is awareness of your
surroundings and the people.  Glance around, checking things out,
notice if someone is hugging up to you, or if someone try's to get
your attention to ask you a lame question while another partner is
stealing your billfold or purse from you.  Your body language also
says a lot to the would be thief, walk with an air of authority, stand
and walk tall, with the air of intent purpose.  BE AWARE!

Secure Travel Locks Are a Must!
We cannot stress the safety issue enough about keeping your travel documents and luggage secured.  Since security at airports goes through all of your luggage [not just what you're carrying onboard], but the checked baggage as well. There are locks that will assure your baggage stays locked.  Only airport security [not baggage handlers] have a tool that allows them access your bags to check them, and then they will be relocked.

Secure Your Luggage with Appropriate Locks

If airport security [Transportation Security Administration] needs to inspect your bags, they can access
the contents with secured tools that do not damage the locks, then quickly send them on their way.

Yes, that one is my bag!  Easy Spot Handle Wraps save you from sifting through a jumble of bags on the luggage carousel only to walk away with the wrong one. They're easy to spot and easy to personalize with any permanent marker. Just Velcro one of these brightly-colored, durable nylon grips around a handle or strap, and find your luggage instantly.

The Luggage Seal design is now being used by airport security. They break with just a yank (no need for any cutting tool) and let you know instantly if someone has opened your bag. Great for allowing airport security inexpensive access while discouraging tampering by others.

These sturdy Neon Luggage Tags make it easy to spot your bag! A unique, slide-out information door keeps your address and telephone number hidden, so just your name shows through the clear window. Includes secure, easy-to-use attachment strap.

Once you snap a tiny PrivaSeals (20 pack) on your zippered luggage, no one will be able to open and pilfer its contents without breaking the seal. (Twist off or cut to remove.) A clever way to discourage luggage tampering while still allowing airport security easy access. Individually numbered and packaged twenty to a zip-top pouch.

Retriever Luggage Tags (pair) - over 97% of all missing bags show up within four days. But by that time, you may have left for your next destination. Instead of your bags being sent to your home or office address, these sturdy vinyl tags invite baggage agents (in eight languages) to remove the itinerary you've placed inside, and forward your bag to you while you're still en route. Every checked-in bag should have one.
