  France, Europe, Worldwide Travel Insurance
TRAVEL THE WORLD KNOWING THAT YOU ARE PROTECTED!

PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES AND READ THIS IMPORTANT INSURANCE INFORMATION

This is information that you need to know about travel and your need for Travel Insurance today.  And why you should always make it a part of your travel expenses especially traveling abroad. The likelihood that something may happen to you while on a trip, is unlikely.  However, if even the smallest problem occurs, a fall that breaks an arm or a leg, a car accident, nothing serious but it becomes a big problem when you seek medical attention.  Even worse, if someone should die while abroad, is a very serious problem, let alone the paperwork involved.  Know this....your U.S. insurance company doesn't cover you while traveling abroad unless you have travel insurance included in your health insurance policy, and you'll have to deal with that upon your return home. This is a fact of life today, and you need to be protected when traveling anywhere, even within the US!

Why You Need Travel Insurance Everywhere Worldwide

Heaven forbid, if the accident is serious, or even a heart attack, and you need to be flown back home immediately for further treatment after being stabilized.  Well these things do happen, the odds are low, but can you afford to take that chance?  The answer is NO!  2010 was the perfect example of disaster while traveling.  The volcano erupted, and 10s of thousands of people were left stranded without a hotel, without transportation, it was nightmare.  Then there were the European airline strikes, and European air controller strikes, that again totally throwing travel into a dizzy for people from every country traveling in/out of northern Europe.

Travel insurance is a necessity especially when traveling to another country, so it is best to automatically consider it a part of your travel expenses.  Travel Insurance is CHEAP!  When you consider all of the benefits that you get from it, it is a small price to pay for the secure feeling of being protected.  Please read the following info, if you think this cannot happen to you, and then you'd better think again!

Travel Guard has a plan for seniors 70 and older, where you will get the best benefits available, and yet not pay the highest amounts for senior travel insurance.  This is most important, because as we grow older we're likely to have more health problems, falling and breaking something, and we shouldn't have to pay more for these services but most travel insurance companies do charge more for senior citizen travel insurance.

You’ll find the best travel insurance packages to suit your needs at Travel Guard Insurance. From single trip coverage for individuals, families or groups, to multi-trip annual travel insurance policies for regular travelers, we offer a range of competitive products including backpacker insurance for extended trips and our Travel Guard option that provides a higher level of travel insurance cover. Travel Guard Insurance is here to  give you outstanding value wherever your travels may take you.

What you should know about travel insurance

This is similar in context as 'what you should know about food'.  Well, it's somewhat complicated in general, but very simple if you know the basics, and in the case of travel insurance -- it is a matter of knowing what the travel insurance plan really will do for you -- what is and what isn't covered.  That is the single most important equation in buying travel insurance.  Travel Guard Insurance overall is very reasonably priced, and we have several plans to cover your particular needs.

Realistic scenarios and why you need travel insurance - what does your insurance cover?
1. I'm only going on a high school graduation trip to Europe;  I'm young and healthy, I never get sick; and even if I should sprain an ankle -- what's the big deal?

2. I'm only going to Mexico or Canada after all, I'm close enough to home if I have a problem, right?

3. Travel insurance is certainly cheap enough, and it wouldn't hurt to get it, but I'll pass this time!

4. You've decided that it is a good idea to buy some travel insurance after all, and the travel insurance web site said that you are fully covered for everything!  Well, I am covered for everything...right?

5. In 2010 tens of thousands of people are stranded in northern Europe, without hotels, without
transportation because of the volcano eruption, are you going to be one of those in 2011?

6. In 2010 proved a record number of airline strikes, and air controller strikes in northern Europe
again stranding thousands of people, do you really want to be one of those persons?

Well...the above scenarios may make sense to the person thinking them, and the odds are that you won't have any problems on your trip to another country [this does include travel to Canada or Mexico from the US].  You're still thinking in the back of you mind that you really don't need travel insurance.  What are the odds after all - pretty big odds that nothing will occur while your on a trip?  Anyway, you have flight insurance!

Well...that's where you'd better read the fine print and start asking some questions.  Because you are not covered for 'everything with every travel insurance policy!  After all, the travel insurance coverage that will or will not cover you, to take care of any type emergency that could arise while on your trip - is for you!  So check it out!  read on....

Why Should You buy Insurance . . . these are some of the main reasons why -
There are hundreds of circumstances that could cause clients to cancel their trip, return home early or force you to seek emergency medical treatment while traveling. To demonstrate the importance of purchasing travel insurance, and emergency travel services, here are 10 common examples of what could go wrong for your clients:

1. It's 10 p.m. and you and your immediate family arrive at the airport for a connecting flight, only to find that your flight has been cancelled. Who can assist you with finding new flights to get everyone home?

2. Your bag was lost with your insulin inside. You need help to locate your bag as soon as possible and have your emergency prescription filled. Who do you call?

3. Your first visit to Europe, and your passport and wallet are stolen. Where do you turn for emergency cash, and how will you get your passport replaced?

4. You're involved in an accident and adequate medical treatment is not available. Who will help arrange and pay for a medical evacuation?

5. If your sister-in-law becomes seriously ill and you must cancel your trip, what happens to your non-refundable deposits or pre-payments?

6. You arrive in Jamaica and your luggage doesn't. If it's lost, who will help you find it? If it's delayed, who will pay for your necessities? If it's stolen, who will pay to replace it?

7. Your cruise line, airline or tour operator goes bankrupt. Who will pay for your non-refundable expenses? Who will help get you to your destination?

8. You're walking down a street in Rio and twist your ankle. Who can help you find an English-speaking physician?

9. Three weeks before your scheduled arrival, a terrorist incident occurs in the city to which you are planning to visit. Who will pay if you want to cancel your trip?

10. You are at a beach resort in North Carolina, and you are forced to evacuate due to an approaching hurricane.  Can you cancel your trip, and who will help you evacuate and who will reimburse your lost vacation investment?  Certain restrictions apply.

What's needed, what isn't needed travel insurance basics
Your personal medical Insurance overall does not cover you when you leave your country of residence.  There are exceptions, but this is the first rule to follow, and that is contact your medical insurance broker and find out exactly what is and is not covered when your travel to another country.  To further elaborate -- it's also important to tell your medical insurance broker exactly what countries that you'll be visiting.  If you are an US citizen, you definitely will not be covered by travel insurance in a third world country, but you are with this insurance program under the countries listed in the coverage plans.  Therefore, this is an important question to ask your regular medical insurance person first, and then the travel agent how your covered before you buy travel insurance.  Find out exactly what is and what isn't covered, and go from there to augment what you do need in the way of travel insurance.

Particular types of coverage that are needed while traveling to another country
These are important questions to ask the travel insurance company, they are needed in your coverage:

 1. The number one question -- trip cancellation insurance.  This can be costly to you if you don't have it.  If you've scheduled a trip or tour abroad, get this immediately.  If you're unable to go for any legitimate reason, you won't lose your trip transportation and accommodation costs, and this coverage is included in specific plans - not all plans.  Check the details on this coverage!

 2. The second most basic question is flight insurance - terms are fairly standard in the industry, but did you know that the million dollar flight policy that you bought, most likely will not pay your benefactor a million dollars if something happened to your flight?

 3. Does this travel insurance cover
DVT [deep-vein thrombosis] in layman's terms it's known as 'class coach syndrome' or deep-vein thrombosis?  This syndrome occurs on long overseas flights; it is very important information to know if you're covered?  Normally this is an irritating and uncomfortable situation, but on rare occasions - it can be fatal.  Exercise while flying will help, but, you can prevent this from happening - if you're aware of the condition and what to do to prevent it.

 4. Does your travel insurance cover a sudden re-occurring conditions?  Or pre-existing conditions.

 5. Does the policy cover emergency vehicle transportation, ambulances, air transport back to the US?  This is most important if you had a heart attack, a serious accident and or a death abroad.

 6. Does the insurance cover emergency services?  If I twist an ankle or break an arm or leg will this be covered? What do I do, and how do I contact the insurance company from abroad?

 7. Does this cover doctors, dentists and hospitals in the country that you are visiting?

 8. If I'm in a serious accident, and need long term hospitalization, will I be covered to be sent home?

 9. Does my insurance cover special transportation back home in critical situations?

10. Repatriation - if a illness or injury results in death, will it pay for expenses for Repatriation of bodily remains or ashes to the country of citizenship?

These are all important questions that you should know the answer to before leaving home, and have all the information at hand at all times while traveling.  Our Insurance partner covers all these issues and it will bring peace of mind to you that all will be taken care of while abroad in case of an emergency.

This terrible experience terrified this traveler, besides losing all her valuable travel items, and precious memories that should have been her travel experience.  I feel so badly for my client, at least they had travel insurance, and she didn't think to contact the insurance company - who will advance the traveler cash.  However, that doesn't replace the extreme violation to your being, or loss of your personal items, cherished photos and important travel documents.  Not only that, these two ladies had their first trip cancelled due to the Volcano erupting and shutting down air traffic, so this was doubly tragic to have this happen to this lady and her friend on top of the other natural disaster.  When you're carrying a purse, or computer bag with a strap, even cross-body, this can happen and these professional thieves know who the tourists as this is their livelihood . . . . again be prepared.  If they can't see it, they won't bother with you!

  Hi Sharon- Warning

We did go on the cruise at the end of Sept. The cruise itself was a joy , the places we visited were beautiful, as were the local
folks living there.  We did get to Paris two days ahead of time, and on the very first morning my entire purse was stolen as I was
boarding a train at the Gare de Lyon in Paris at 5:45 am. All I know for sure is that I had it and then when I sat down and the doors
closed, I didn't have it. The police said the thieves work in pairs and one bumps you on one side of your body and the other one
cuts the strap of your purse from behind....at l least that's what they think happened.  I lost all my money, credit cards, drivers
license, cell phone, mini-camcorder, and camera ...... devastating....so we got money from the one and only casino in Lyon the
day before the cruise and went on with our plans . . . thank God my gal friend had a zero balance on her credit card and that the
casino would give her the cash we needed, because NO BANK will do a cash advance, etc etc etc . . .

Please warn all women to keep their purses cross-body, use a money belt, AND keep hold of the strap in the front, just in case the
strap in back gets cut . :)

Thanks for great service and your caring -

  Nancy
